The RTG Chembion is positioned at the University of Münster. Thirteen scientists of the University of Münster have teamed up with their complementary expertise to study chemical biology of ion channels. We tackle questions in the field of ion channels with innovative structural, chemical methods, interconnecting chemistry, pharmacology, and medicine and foster the internationalization of young researchers. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is linked to the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Budde (Institute of Neurophysiology) conducted in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm (Abt. Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology).
Subject of the work will be the characterization of modulators and functional analysis of neuronal Kv7 channels. The Ph.D. student work will focus on work with: transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; electrophysiology in oocytes, cell cultures and brain slices; modeling individual neurons and networks of neurons using NEURON.
We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge Ph.D. student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Ph.D. student holding a state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or neurobiology. Excellent command of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential. German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable.
