The position is linked to the research group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm (IfGH-Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology).

 

The Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology group is positioned at the University of Münster. The group often teams up with other research groups with complementary expertise to study physiological and chemical biology of proteins like ion channels and proteases. The group tackles questions in the field of ion channels and proteases with innovative physiological, 3D modeling, structural elucidation and (bio-)chemical methods, interconnecting biochemistry, pharmacology, and medicine and foster the individual development of young researchers. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Characterization of modulators and functional analysis of Kv7 channels and/or proteases
  • Working with transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; different electrophysiology techniques in oocytes and cells, stem cell derived 2D-cell cultures; high resolution microscopy; 3D modeling protein of individual electrical active cells and cells in a tissue like conformation

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • State examination degree in pharmacy or alternatively a Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology
  • Strong interest in working in an multidisciplinary team
  • High motivation and ambition
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Very good Communication skills and team spirit
  • German language skills are not a requirement but willingness to learn is desirable
