We are looking for an ambitious PhD student with a fitting research idea to be included in our multidisciplinary team.


The RTG Chembion is positioned at the University of Münster. 13 scientists of the University of Münster have teamed up with their complementary expertise to study chemical biology of ion channels. We tackle questions in the field of ion channels with innovative structural, chemical methods, interconnecting chemistry, pharmacology, and medicine and foster the internationalization of young researchers. Your tasks:
The position is tied to working towards a doctorate in the group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm, Abt. Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology (information).
Subject of the work will be the structure, function and pharmacology of ion channels. The PhD. student work will focus on work with protein structure determination via Cryo-EM, molecular modeling and electrophysiology in single cells. We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge Ph.D. student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.


Our expectations:

  • A highly motivated and talented PhD. student holding a state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Communication skills and  team spirit are essential
  • German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable
