The position is part of the externally-funded collaborative research endeavor Chembion and is open from June 1st, 2025.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is linked to the research group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm (IfGH-Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology).

Subject of the work will be the characterization of modulators and functional analysis of neuronal/cardiac Kv7 channels. The Ph.D. student work will focus on work with: transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; different electrophysiology techniques in oocytes and cells, stem cell drived 2D-cell cardiac cultures; high resolution microscopy; modeling protein, individual electrical active cells and networks.

We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge Ph.D. student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • An ambitious Ph.D. student with strong interest in working in our multidisciplinary team
  • A state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biology
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential
  • German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable
