Doctoral Research Associate (gn*)

Job Id:  10524

Fixed-term of 3 years | Part-time with 65% | Salary according to TV-L E13 | Institute of Physiology II | Research training group Chemical Biology of Ion Channels (Chembion)

We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise at the Institute of Physiology II for the research training group Chemical Biology of Ion Channels – ideally with you on board!

The Chembion team at the Institute of Physiology II has a strong background in studying the function of ion channels in tumour pathophysiology using predominantly live-cell imaging techniques. The current project will explore the role of potassium channels in the tumour immune defense.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position is tied to working towards a doctorate. 12 scientists from the University of Münster have teamed up to bring their complementary expertise to focus on the chemical biology of ion channels. Their interdisciplinary research activities are centred on five topics: ligand recognition, subtype specific modulation, molecular imaging, molecular and cellular physiology and integrative (patho)physiology. Our vision for this interdisciplinary project is to solve physiological questions in the field of ion channels using innovative chemical methods. We aim to bring together the molecular world of chemistry/pharmacy and the activity-centred world of medicine. The internationalisation of our doctoral research associates is strongly promoted.

We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge PhD training programme in and beyond the fields mentioned above.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly motivated and talented doctoral researchers holding a state examination degree in pharmacy or medicine or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry or biology
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential
  • German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is expected

WE OFFER:

  • A competitive, interdisciplinary environment with a track record of intense mutual collaboration
  • In addition to the individual training-through-research, our program includes additional elements such as a 3–6 month international internship, retreats, lab rotation and symposia

Please feel free to contact Albrecht Schwab (aschwab@uni-muenster.de) for more detailed informations on the project.

Further details about the Chembion programme can be obtained from the spokesperson (wuensch@uni-muenster.de).
