The Institute of Molecular Tumor Biology (IMTB), headed by Prof. Dr. Frank Rosenbauer, is an experimentally oriented medical research institute focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation, tumor development, and immune cell function.

 

A major research focus is the role of transcription factors in hematopoietic cell fate regulation and their interaction with epigenetic mechanisms. We use state-of-the-art approaches, including next-generation sequencing, functional genetic screens, and transgenic model systems. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team. The successful candidate will investigate the epigenetic and proteasomal regulation of neutrophil function. Neutrophils are the most abundant circulating leukocytes and represent the first line of defense against microbial infections. Because dysregulated neutrophil responses contribute to the pathogenesis of numerous immune-mediated diseases, understanding the mechanisms that govern their activation is of considerable biological and clinical importance.

 

The project will integrate cutting-edge omics technologies with state-of-the-art disease models to elucidate how epigenetic and proteasomal pathways regulate neutrophil functions in the contexts of infection and cancer.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • A completed Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Experience with relevant methods and concepts in cellular immunology
  • Hands-on experience with cell and tissue cultures as well as common molecular biology techniques
  • Basic proficiency in the R programming language
  • Experience working with public omics datasets and repositories
  • Experience working with laboratory mice is a plus
  • Publication(s) in a leading journal in immunology, molecular biology, or a related field, including at least one research article authored as first author
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • High motivation, willingness to learn, and team spirit
  • Strong sense of responsibility, organizational skills, high reliability, and flexibility

This is a position in the wet lab, so applicants with a background solely in (bio)informatics will not be considered.
