The leukocyte adhesion laboratory under the guidance of Prof. A. Zarbock investigates the mechanisms of neutrophil activation and recruitment in various mouse models of inflammatory and infectious diseases. In detail, this new project addresses the role of neutrophils during acute kidney injury and subsequent secondary organ damage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct intravital microscopy studies on neutrophil rolling and adhesion in mice
- Perform flow cytometry analyses
- Carry out flow chamber assays
- Utilize immunofluorescence microscopy techniques
- Investigate protein-protein interactions
- Perform retroviral transfection of bone marrow cells
- Generate bone marrow chimeras
- Engage in collaborative research within the CRC1450 inSight network
- Benefit from a dynamic research environment with state-of-the-art technologies
- Collaborate with various departments and networks for research advancements
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree with doctorate in biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or other life sciences
- Strong knowledge in molecular biology, biochemical and immunological techniques such as western Blot, flow cytometry, cell culture, ELISA, or stimulation assays
- Experience in working with mice or imaging techniques is not essential, but would be beneficial
- Independent, reliable and structured way of working with a good sense of quality is essential
- High motivation, flexibility, good self-organization and team working abilities
- Ability to establish new methods, to work independently, analyse and critically reflect scientific data
- Very good written and spoken English language skills
