The Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Andrology (CeRA) specializes in research on male reproductive function. Our scientific research, along with translational and clinical studies, provides new insights into the fundamental principles of reproduction. In a multidisciplinary project led by collaboration partners at the University of Dundee (UK), funded by the Gates Foundation, we want to advance the development of innovative non-hormonal contraceptives that pharmacologically disable the function of sperm.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Refining and developing assays for high-throughput drug screening with human sperm
  • Characterizing the pharmacological action of small molecules on contraceptive targets in human sperm
  • Performing state-of-the-art motility analysis of human sperm
  • Coordinating laboratory work of a project team

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree with PhD in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, chemistry, biomedicine or other life sciences (required)
  • Experienced in basic microscopy techniques (required)
  • Knowledge on basic pharmacological principles (desired)
  • Knowledge about sperm physiology and techniques to study sperm function, e.g., semen analysis, CASA (desired)
  • Commitment to research and development in a translational setting (required)
  • Oral and written communication skills - English (required) and German (desired)
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary and international team (required)
  • Independent, reliable, and structured way of working with a strong sense for quality control (required)
  • Flexibility, communication skills, strong motivation, and high ability to work in a team (required)
