RESEARCH PROJECT:

Prof. Rutsch's research group investigates the molecular basis, pathogenetic principles, and therapeutic options for ectopic calcifications. We are currently looking for a committed postdoctoral researcher for our current project. The interdisciplinary research project, which is being carried out by Prof. Rutsch's research group in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology at the UKM and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy at the University of Münster, focuses on the treatment of retinal calcifications, which play a role in the rare disease pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) but also in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The innovative therapeutic approach is based on a nanoparticulate system that dissolves calcifications present in the retina.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration on research projects on translational research topics such as pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
  • Conducting in vivo studies, data analysis, and publication of results in scientific journals.
  • Participation in the preparation of research proposals
