We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.
To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise at the Department of Neurology – ideally with you on board!
Overall, research in the Group of Prof. Dr. Meyer zu Hörste at the Department of Neurology combines basic models and patient-derived specimen with cutting-edge technologies. One of our recent projects has been to better understand human polyneuropathies by using single nuclei and spatial transcriptomics (PubMed ID 40849297). This embeds with the focus of the group of applying single cell / spatial transcriptomics to better understand human neurological diseases on a wider scale (see e.g. PubMed IDs 38750052, 33382973).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will study mechanisms of peripheral nerve and brain border immunology by applying animal models and spatial transcriptomics at the Department of Neurology as part of the established research group of Prof. Dr. Meyer zu Hörste and integrated with the Biology in Context Core Unit.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in
- Rodent experimentation and their legal requirements in Germany
- Immunohistochemistry and/or RNA in-situ hybridization and light microscopy
- High degree of motivation, willingness to learn and team spirit
- Strong sense of responsibility, organisational skills, high reliability and flexibility
- Experience in single cell/nuclei or spatial transcriptomics are preferable, but not required
- Experience in immunological techniques (e.g., flow cytometry) are a plus
