RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research on the molecular mechanisms of synapse formation and neurotransmission
  • Investigate the role of synaptic organizer molecules, particularly neurexins
  • Analyze defects of these molecules in mutant mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Conduct experiments to study synaptic function and structure in vivo and in vitro
  • Apply state-of-the-art methods to analyze synaptic mechanisms and neuronal structure

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Above-average Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Strong motivation for basic science research
  • Beneficial: prior experimental experience with the nervous system
  • Beneficial: skills in biochemistry, cell culture, electrophysiology, or microscopic techniques
