Fixed-term of 3 years | Part-time with 65% | Salary grade E 13 TV-L | European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI)

We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the group of PD Dr. Sven Hermann which ist embedded in the European Institute for Molecular Imaging. Our research focuses on mechanisms of the innate immune system, its regulation and therapeutic modulation in clinically relevant inflammatory diseases and preclinical models. The PhD project represents an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Institute of Immunology (Prof. Dr. Thomas Vogl) as part of the national consortium CRC1450 – “Multiscale Imaging of Organ-specific Inflammation”. We are particularly interested in investigating how dimers and tetramers of S100A8/A9 reprogram myeloid cells via TLR4 and/or CD69 depending signalling cascades to a regulatory phenotype during autoimmune disorders. The experimental program includes cutting-edge innovative imaging and immunological methods, techniques of molecular and cellular biology, genome editing of myeloid stem cells and analysis of preclinical mouse models (transgenic and knock-out). Particular emphasis is placed on the utilisation of molecular imaging technologies in vivo, including integrated PET/MRI, SPECT, and FRI – ideally with you on board!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacy, (Bio)-Chemistry or (Bio)-Medicine
  • Strong interest in molecular biology, immunology, and molecular imaging in vivo
  • Experience with lab work
  • We encourage applicants with a broad experimental-analytical interest, as the job holder will contribute both to the development of new methods and their application to investigate (new) tracers and targets in murine disease models.
  • Oral and written communication skills - English (required) and German (desired)
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team

WE OFFER:

  • A broad education and training in a highly interactive consortium (CRC1450)
  • The Integrated Research Training Group offers early-career researchers comprehensive scientific training in the field of “multiscale imaging” and individual support for their doctoral thesis projects
